This course is intended for Swim in Balance students after following a basic crawl course in open water or after a level 2 course inside the pool.
After the level 1 crawl basic course you will have learned everything you need to be able to swim the entire stroke. You have been given a lot of information, but the battle is not yet automated. Of course you can work with this yourself and further develop it yourself. However, many of our students feel the need to refine and automate the battle under supervision. This way, no sloppiness will creep in and you can always ask questions if you don't know something exactly. This is what the level 2 course is intended for.
In this course you will not receive any new information, but we will help you to work out all the information from the level 1 course properly. That is why this course is only accessible to students who have followed the level 1 crawl course. In this course we also emphasize the extra skills you need to swim in open water (handling the waves, keeping a course, etc). You will notice that after the level 2 course you can continue swimming with much more ease and without having to think so intensively.
There is plenty of room for personal advice in this course. In practice, we see that our students benefit a lot from the combination of the level 1 course and the level 2 course. It is best to follow the two courses immediately afterwards. You can also choose to practice on your own for 6 weeks and then do a level 2 course, but this depends on how independently you can practice.
At the moment about 80% of the course participants at Swim in Balance continue directly with the level 2 course. During this course you will also learn specific open water swimming techniques such as looking forward above the water to ensure you swim straight and dealing with waves. It is possible to do several level 2 courses in succession (as many as you want, up to the level you want to achieve yourself), because thanks to the personal approach, no lesson is identical and you will continue to refine your swimming stroke.
During this course you will also learn specific open water swimming techniques such as swimming a straight course, swimming with wetsuits and/or buoys and dealing with waves. During the course you can borrow wetsuits from Swim in Balance if you find it too cold. There is a toilet block, showers and changing rooms. This course is ideally suited for people who prefer to swim in natural water than in a pool, or who want to get used to swimming in open water.
