BUTTERFLY OPEN WATER | five week course | Starts 3 Sep. 12:00 pm – Spaarnwoude
Course period Sep 3 – Oct 1 12:00 – 13.00:XNUMX
This butterfly course is suitable for anyone who can swim or float with their face in the water. You don't have to be very fit or strong: swimmers of all levels have learned to swim the butterfly with the Shaw Method. You may have some experience with the trick, or have never tried it. This course takes you through all the exercises for the Shaw Method butterfly: great for beginners and an ideal refresher for those who have already taken lessons.
The aim of the course is to be able to fly freely. Do you think this is impossible? We show you how to swim the butterfly as a graceful and easy-to-maintain stroke. We show that despite the traditional image, the butterfly is not an extra challenging stroke compared to the other three strokes. Students who have suffered from tension, a stiff back or sciatica in the lower back have indicated that they actually benefit from the butterfly of the Shaw Method.
At the end of the course you can:
- using your head as a 'driver' during the battle
- using the butterfly's four-wheel drive
- calmly and relaxed let your arms move forward over the water
- make a soft and smooth wave motion
- swim at a steady and regular rhythm so that the water carries your body breathe with ease
We recommend getting in the water at least once a week to practice. In the first lesson, the teacher will give you tips to plan your practice sessions.
During this course you will also learn specific open water swimming techniques such as swimming a straight course, swimming with wetsuits and/or buoys and dealing with waves. During the course you can borrow wetsuits from Swim in Balance if you find it too cold. There is a toilet block, showers and changing rooms. This course is ideally suited for people who prefer to swim in natural water than in a pool, or who want to get used to swimming in open water.
